Initial experience of humanitarian action in Asia during the 2004 tsunami

Our history

A long -standing desire that drives us

Our first experience of humanitarian action dates back to the Asian tsunami of December 2004, which devastated Indonesia and Sri Lanka.

We adopted a child of Sri Lankan origin in 1990 through the association Kasih Bunda France (KBF). Following the tsunami of 26 December 2004, we became involved in this association, my wife as head of the sponsorship programme and I as Vice-President. Thanks to the outpouring of generosity from the French people, the charity received over €750,000 from 3,000 donors.

I monitored the projects in Sri Lanka, and despite the difficulties we rebuilt several schools and colleges, which was a very formative experience.

In my career, two companies stood out for me: Télémécanique Electrique and Hewlett-Packard. Both of them had, among other values, quality, civic-mindedness and corporate philanthropy.

Having set up an IT start-up in 1990, I have always tried, within the means generated by the company’s profits, to promote solidarity initiatives in the educational field and in the field of music through my support for the Grenoble Jazz Club.

After the sale of my company in 2021, I was able to continue and expand my philanthropic activities both in Sri Lanka and in Transylvania (Romania), in the rural village where my grandparents lived for 50 years from 1896.

I knew the Fondation de France from my time with the KBF association, and in December 2024, I contacted them to see if I could set up a foundation that could be sheltered by this foundation.

The project quickly led, given the two ongoing projects that I had already initiated in Sri Lanka and Romania in 2023.

For Sri Lanka, the project had long been requested by the head of the local association We For You, which is a KBF partner.

For Romania, the project took shape in 2024, following the purchase of my grandparents’ house, and an analysis with the village council and the village GP of the need to improve health services in the region.
