The education center is being built in Bentota, in southeastern Sri Lanka. Initially, the project aims to address four local needs:
- Assistance with O/Level (middle school) and A/Level (high school) exam preparation;
- English and math classes for children sponsored by the local organization We For You;
- Language courses for the tourism sector (hotels and restaurants) in English, German, French, Russian, and Mandarin;
- Providing classrooms for local teachers who offer supplementary classes in the evenings and on weekends.
The center will open in spring 2026.
We for you: the sponsorship association
We For You (WFY) was founded in 2017. It is a local NGO in Sri Lanka whose mission is to reduce poverty and develop educational and healthcare support for underprivileged families in Sri Lanka, through humanitarian aid and financial assistance.
One of WFY’s programs since its inception has been to distribute school bursaries to children from very poor families to help them succeed in school or gain access to university. Sponsors in France contribute a monthly amount towards these bursaries, which are collected by the association Kasih Bunda France (www.kasihbunda.fr). These funds are sent to the WFY team every quarter. A progress report is sent to the French sponsors.
Exam preparation with good conditions
Children who must take the O-Level (patent) and A-Level (baccalaureate) exams, depending on the family context and their situation need to be able to prepare their exams in the best conditions.
Which is not possible in their family (too many brothers and sisters, alcoholism problem in the family circle, noise, drugs, etc.)
The creation of a center therefore directly aims to meet this need: to offer a space favorable to exam revisions.
It is therefore neither a school nor a training center. Children will only stay there once, between 1 and 3 months.
